Description

A Steel-Framed Hog Wire Gate That Never Needs Staining

On a wood-framed gate, the frame is what sags, checks and needs re-staining every few years. This gate is steel all the way through: 6-gauge welded hog wire set in a welded steel frame, with nothing to stain, seal, warp or rot. The rigid grid keeps the gate square across the opening, so it swings clear and latches cleanly, while the open mesh keeps your view instead of closing it off.

Non-Combustible Gates for Wildfire-Prone Properties

A wood gate next to the house is one more thing that can burn. Steel wire and a steel frame give a fire nothing to catch, which makes this gate the right match for an all-steel fence line close to your home. Defensible space rules vary by state and county, so check yours with your local fire authority when you plan the layout.

Man Gates and 12' Double Swing Driveway Gates

Choose a 4' wide man gate for people, wheelbarrows and mowers, or a 12' wide double swing gate for driveways, trailers and equipment. Both come in heights from 4' to 8', so the gate lines up with the top of your fence.

Built to Match the All-Steel Hog Wire Fence Kit

This gate is made to pair with the black hog wire fence kit, so the frame, finish and grid run continuously across panels and gates. We match the gate mesh to the opening you ordered for your fence. Ordering a gate on its own, or want a different opening? Add it to the order notes. Choose from three finishes:

Black: a matte dip-coated finish for modern homes and open views
Brown: an earthy dip-coated finish for wooded and rural properties
Silver: natural galvanized steel for a classic ranch look

📐 Custom Sizing

Most projects fit the sizes listed on this page — those are what we build, stock and price online.

We do make custom sizes within our standard range, and we quote them case by case. If your run falls between two listed sizes — say you need 7′ 6″ when we list 7′ and 8′ — we can build it. The cost depends on the dimensions, the profile and how much material the cut leaves behind, so custom sizes are not listed or priced on the site. Send us the measurements and we will tell you what is possible and what it costs.

Custom sizes are final sale. A panel cut to your dimensions cannot be restocked or sold to anyone else, so custom-sized orders cannot be returned or exchanged. Please confirm your measurements before you approve the quote.

These products can all be modified on site. Trimming a panel to close out a run is normal work, and you do not need us to do it for you — ask and we will walk you through how to cut and seal it properly so the finish holds up.

Just know that a cut edge is no longer a factory edge: cutting or drilling exposes unprotected steel and voids the steel & coating warranty on that component. Done the right way and sealed properly it will still last — so ask us before you cut.

🏅 Warranty

All-steel system: 40-year warranty against rust, fade and corrosion on the steel frame, infill and factory finish.

Factory assembly: 5-year limited workmanship warranty.

Installation: Proper installation is the installer's responsibility, including the correct concrete mix, post-hole diameter and depth for your soil and frost line, and gates hung square, plumb and level. Damage or premature wear from improper installation is not covered.

Modifications: Cutting, drilling or altering the steel exposes unprotected edges and voids the steel and coating warranty on the modified component.

Care: No wood to stain, seal or replace. An occasional rinse keeps the finish clean.

Hardware and posts are sold separately and are covered by their own product warranties.

❓ FAQ

Will this gate match my all-steel hog wire fence?
Yes. It's built to pair with the black hog wire fence kit, with the same welded steel frame, finish and 6-gauge wire. We match the gate mesh to the opening you ordered for your fence. If you're ordering a gate on its own or want a different opening, add it to the order notes.

How is this different from your wood-framed hog wire gates?
Both use the same 6-gauge welded hog wire. Our hog wire gates set it in a cedar or pressure-treated frame to match a wood-framed fence. This gate uses a welded steel frame instead, so there's no wood to stain, rot or burn, and it matches the all-steel fence kit.

Should I choose a man gate or a double swing gate?
A 4' wide man gate fits people, wheelbarrows and mowers, which suits side yards, gardens and pens. A 12' wide double swing gate opens wide enough for vehicles, trailers and equipment, which suits driveways and paddocks. Both come in heights from 4' to 8' to line up with your fence.

Are hinges and a latch included?
No, hardware is sold separately. The Universal Black Gate Hardware Kit includes black dip-coated hinges, a latch and brackets.

How many posts do I need for the gate?
Posts aren't included with the gate. In a run built with the all-steel fence kit, the fence post on one side of the opening also carries the gate, so add one more post for each gate, single or double swing. A gate standing on its own, with no fence attached, needs a post on each side.

Is a steel hog wire gate fire-resistant?
Steel wire and a steel frame are non-combustible, so the gate gives a fire nothing to burn. That makes it a good match for an all-steel fence near your home in wildfire-prone areas. Defensible space rules vary by state and county, so check yours with your local fire authority.

Will a steel gate sag over time?
The welded steel frame and rigid 6-gauge mesh brace each other, so the gate holds its shape across the opening. Most gate sag comes from the posts, so set them in concrete below your frost line and keep them plumb.

What maintenance does the gate need?
Very little. There's no wood to stain, seal or replace. Rinse the gate occasionally to keep the finish clean, and check the hinges and latch once a year so it keeps swinging smoothly.

What warranty comes with the gate?
The steel frame, wire infill and factory finish are covered by a 40-year warranty against rust, fade and corrosion. Factory assembly has a 5-year limited workmanship warranty. Hardware and posts carry their own product warranties.

How is the gate delivered?
We deliver on our own trucks and unload on your property, with no freight terminal and no third-party carrier. Gates ship on Heavy Delivery. Your rate and estimated delivery date show in the estimate box on this page.
