Galvanized After Welding — Why Our Welds Don't Rust

Every BarrierBoss panel is Class 3 heavy galvanized — 150 gsm of zinc, the heaviest standard wire galvanizing class — applied AFTER welding, then sealed in our heavy-duty dip-coat. Welds are the natural weak point of any welded panel: typical competitor panels are welded from pre-galvanized wire, which burns the zinc off every wire intersection and leaves hundreds of bare-steel points hiding under a thin dip-coated. That's where they rust first. Our zinc goes on after the welds are made, so the entire panel — welds included — carries full protection. It's the reason we back the wire and finish for 40 years, nearly three times the coverage of leading hog wire competitors.

6' high by 8' wide, the full-height boundary size. It is the most common privacy-line height, and the 8' width matches standard post spacing.

Does a 6' hog wire fence give privacy?
No, and that is deliberate. Hog wire marks a boundary at full height while keeping sightlines and airflow. If you want screening at this height, our corrugated or ribbed privacy panels are the right product.

What is the wire specification?
6-gauge black dip-coated welded wire. At this panel size the heavier gauge matters, since a lighter mesh will flex noticeably over an 8' span.

Which wire opening should I choose?
4"x4" is the usual boundary choice at this height. 2"x2" and 1"x1" are chosen where animals or children need containing. 2"x6" is a wider rectangular mesh.
