Description

Steel-Framed Cattle Panels for Paddocks, Pens and Acreages

The classic cattle panel fence is a sheet of welded wire stapled to wood posts or wired to T-posts. It goes up fast, but within a few seasons the posts lean, the wire bows where animals push on it, and the line starts to wander. This kit is the finished version. Each section is 6-gauge welded cattle panel captured in a black steel frame and bolted to heavy-duty steel posts, so the whole fence line is steel, with no wood to rot and no staples to work loose.

A Cattle Panel Fence That Stays Square

Instead of being fastened to the face of a post, the mesh sits inside a welded steel track on all four sides. That's what keeps the panel tight when stock lean, rub and push against it, and what keeps the run straight from one end of the paddock to the other. Slotted mounting holes let you fine-tune alignment as you set each section. Because every part is steel, the fence also gives a fire nothing to burn, which matters on rural properties in wildfire country.

What Comes in Each Cattle Panel Fence Section

  • 1 welded cattle panel: 6-gauge wire, hot-dipped and heavy galvanized
  • Black steel frame: top track, bottom track and two side rails
  • 1 heavy-duty steel post with cap: plus one extra end post per order to finish the run
  • Hardware: carriage bolts and assembly hardware

A single straight run of 12 sections arrives with 13 posts. Plan one more post for each gate opening and each separate run, since every break in the fence needs its own end post. Corners usually keep the same count, but add a note about your layout in the cart and we'll confirm it.

Black Frame With Your Choice of Mesh

The frame and posts are always black. The cattle panel inside comes in three finishes: black for a seamless dark line, brown for a warmer look against pasture and timber, or silver for bright galvanized steel against the black frame. Then pick the grid that suits what you're fencing:

  • 4" x 4": the standard grid for cattle, goats, sheep and property boundaries
  • 2" x 2": keeps in lambs, kids, poultry and small dogs
  • 1" x 1": the tightest grid, for rabbits, chicks and garden protection
  • 2" x 6": a long, linear grid with a more modern look

How It Compares to Farm-Store Cattle Panels

The cattle panels sold at farm stores are usually 16' long and about 50" tall, with large openings, and they come bare for you to cut, wire and post yourself. These panels are built differently: 6-gauge wire in a tighter, even grid, cut to 6' or 8' sections from 4' to 8' tall, and delivered framed in steel with the posts and hardware included. You get a finished fence instead of a pile of panels and T-posts.

Building with wood posts instead? Shop our cattle panels framed in cedar or pressure-treated lumber, or unframed for your own build.

📐 Custom Sizing

Most projects fit the sizes listed on this page — those are what we build, stock and price online.

We do make custom sizes within our standard range, and we quote them case by case. If your run falls between two listed sizes — say you need 7′ 6″ when we list 7′ and 8′ — we can build it. The cost depends on the dimensions, the profile and how much material the cut leaves behind, so custom sizes are not listed or priced on the site. Send us the measurements and we will tell you what is possible and what it costs.

Custom sizes are final sale. A panel cut to your dimensions cannot be restocked or sold to anyone else, so custom-sized orders cannot be returned or exchanged. Please confirm your measurements before you approve the quote.

These products can all be modified on site. Trimming a panel to close out a run is normal work, and you do not need us to do it for you — ask and we will walk you through how to cut and seal it properly so the finish holds up.

Just know that a cut edge is no longer a factory edge: cutting or drilling exposes unprotected steel and voids the steel & coating warranty on that component. Done the right way and sealed properly it will still last — so ask us before you cut.

🏅 Warranty
All-steel system: 40-year warranty against rust, fade and corrosion on the steel frame, posts, infill and factory finish.

Factory assembly: 5-year limited workmanship warranty.

Installation: Proper installation is the installer's responsibility, including the correct concrete mix, post-hole diameter and depth for your soil and frost line, and panels set square, plumb and level. Damage or premature wear from improper installation is not covered.

Modifications: Cutting, drilling or altering the steel exposes unprotected edges and voids the steel and coating warranty on the modified component.

Care: No wood to stain, seal or replace. An occasional rinse keeps the finish clean.
❓ FAQ

How is this different from a cattle panel and T-post fence?
A typical cattle panel fence is bare wire panels clipped or wired to T-posts or wood posts. Over time the posts lean, the clips loosen and the wire bows where animals push on it. This kit frames each 6-gauge cattle panel in a black steel track on all four sides and bolts it to heavy-duty steel posts, so the fence stays square and there's nothing to rot or work loose.

How do these compare to cattle panels from a farm store?
Farm-store cattle panels are usually 16' long and about 50" tall, with large openings, and come bare for you to cut and fasten. These are 6-gauge welded panels with a tighter, even grid, cut to 6' or 8' sections from 4' to 8' tall, and they arrive framed in steel with posts and hardware included.

Which grid size should I choose for my animals?
4" x 4" suits cattle, goats, sheep and general property boundaries. 2" x 2" keeps in lambs, kids, poultry and small dogs. 1" x 1" is the tightest grid, for rabbits, chicks and garden protection. 2" x 6" gives a longer, more modern-looking grid.

Will the panels hold up when livestock lean on them?
The mesh is captured in a welded steel frame on all four sides instead of being stapled or clipped to a post face, so it stays tight when animals rub and push against it. Set the posts in concrete and keep them plumb, since a fence is only as solid as its posts.

How many posts come with the kit?
Each section includes one heavy-duty steel post with a cap, and every order adds one extra end post to finish the run, so a straight run of 12 sections arrives with 13 posts. Add one more post for each gate opening and each separate run. Corners usually keep the same count, but note your layout in the cart and we'll confirm it.

Can I use this kit for a garden or orchard fence?
Yes. The tighter grids keep rabbits and other small animals out of beds and young trees, and the all-steel frame won't rot in irrigated ground. Where deer are a problem, the 7' and 8' heights are the usual choice.

What colors does the kit come in?
The steel frame and posts are always black. The cattle panel mesh inside comes in black, brown or silver, so you can choose a solid black line, a warmer brown, or bright galvanized silver against the black frame.

Is there a matching gate?
Yes. The all-steel gate uses the same black frame, in 4' walk-through and 12' double swing widths. Gate posts aren't included with the kit, so add one post for each gate.

What warranty comes with the kit?
The steel frame, posts, cattle panel mesh and factory finish carry a 40-year warranty against rust, fade and corrosion. Factory assembly has a 5-year limited workmanship warranty.

How is the kit delivered?
We deliver on our own trucks and unload on your property, with no freight terminal and no third-party carrier. Your rate and estimated delivery date show in the estimate box on this page.
