The name changes by region and by habit, not by product. What actually differs between options is the opening size, the frame and the finish.
For livestock, ranch and corral runs, most buyers take the 2"×2" opening to hold smaller animals, and the unframed panel as infill between posts they already have. For a residential or garden boundary, the 4"×4" opening framed in Western Red Cedar or pressure-treated lumber reads as a finished fence rather than farm hardware. Cow panels and cattle panels are the same thing under two names: heavy welded steel grid, sold rigid, built for stock that leans on a fence rather than respecting it. If you searched for a cow panel fence, cattle fencing panels are what you are looking at.
What Makes a Cattle Panel Different
A cow fence has to survive being pushed. Cattle lean through a boundary to reach what is on the other side, and they do it with their full weight behind them. That is why these panels are welded at every intersection and sold rigid: the panel carries the load across the whole grid instead of concentrating it on a single strained wire.
The graduated spacing does the second job. Openings are tighter toward the bottom, where a calf would otherwise slip through, and wider higher up where nothing is trying to get out. It is the same reason the panels have moved off the farm and into gardens as trellis and raised-bed structure — the grid is strong enough to carry a crop and hold its shape doing it.

We ordered three Fort Knox panels for a privacy wall. They were easy to move, easy to build before moving them into place. Once build they look fantastic, very solid and easily installed as they measured exactly 8' wide and 6' tall once built. We used 10' 4"X4" post so we could add a little more height then trimmed the post and added post caps.
We'd like to give a special shout out to the Barrier Boss Customer Service team for being so responsive as I was getting anxious to take delivery and get them installed before my hip replacement. They said delivery would be 6-8 weeks, they delivery in about 6 weeks so I had the post in the ground and ready. Following the video instruction the install was simple, taking about two hours to build and install - amazing. We highly recommend working with BarrierBoss and being patient as the wait time is well worth it. We love this product, it looks amazing, we will be back for more fencing in the future. I ordered several framed and finished hog wire panels as part of a deer fence project. I thought the cost was very reasonable... Due to tariffs, etc. they took a quite while to come, and I started to get paranoid I'd been scammed by a fake website (it is pretty impressive)! Thanks to CS for sending that video, very reassuring...Once the product was delivered I was completely impressed. Delivery was professional and at a reasonable cost...., The quality is amazing... My fence installer wanted to know-- who made these?!!
