Available in sizes 4x8, 6x8, and 8x8, these kits come with everything you need to create a durable and stylish metal fence for your property. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you put together your kit.
What's Inside Your Metal Fence Kit
When you receive your kit, it will include the following materials:
- Two 2x4s: These will serve as the sides of the panel.
- One 2x4: This is the header of your panel.
- Two 1x6s: These act as the kickboard or footer.
- Four 1x4s: These are the side inlays.
- Two 1x4s: These are the top inlays.
Getting Started
To make the assembly process smooth and efficient, we recommend using a jig. While we have a professional setup for demonstration purposes, you can easily create your own jig at home. All you need are two sheets of 4x8 plywood. Ensure they are flat and level, next drill a couple of 1x4s an inch and a half from the corner of the plywood to form the perfect outside border for your panel.
Assembly Process
Step 1: Building the Frame
- Start by grabbing the 2x4 header and place it at the top, ensuring it is flush with the corners.
- Next, take the side 2x4s and lay them down, making sure they are square with the header. Use the 3-inch screws provided in the kit to secure the frame. We recommend using two screws per side for stability.
Step 2: Adding the Inlays
- Once the top is done, move to the bottom. Attach the 1x4s that act as the sub-header for the panel. To ensure no gaps occur, use a clamp to hold the inlays tightly while you secure them with screws.
- Next, take the side inlays and attach them flush against the top. This is a visible part of the fence, so make sure everything is aligned neatly.
Step 3: Installing the Kickboard
- Grab the 1x6s and ensure they are flush with the base of the panel. Secure them using the same 3-inch screws.
Installing the Metal Fence Panels
Now that your frame is complete, it's time to add the metal panels. One of the unique features of our kits is that the metal is factory-finished on both sides with PVDF paint, ensuring it won't fade. You won't have to worry about choosing which side faces the road or matching paint colors later on.
- Start from the top and work your way down, dropping the metal panels into place. You can choose to run them horizontally or vertically, depending on your preference.
- Secure the panels with screws as you go, ensuring they are flush with the frame. Wear gloves with rubber tips for a better grip during this step.
Reinforcing the Fence Panel
Finally, it's time to reinforce your fence panel. We recommend adding three screws through each side of the panel to ensure it's secure. If you're running the panels horizontally, make sure to support the middle seam as well.
Conclusion
